Vítor Agostinho is a ceramic designer with a relevant experience in cookware products to industry. Recently he starts to reorient his work for a more personalized and artistic development as a result of his investigation in ceramics. These two dimensions of work, mass production and handcraft, gave him a singular opportunity to discover new ceramic conformation methods. In the series Mutant, Vítor demonstrates the capacity to generate an almost “infinite” number of sculptural forms, by using just one mould. The mould produced for this specific artwork was an articulated mould constructed in plaster modules connected with a flexible material, in between. The articulated characteristic of the moulds gives the author the opportunity to explore new conceptual perspectives and expressions in his creative process.
