‘Columbus’ Pendant Lamp by Sneyders de Vogel for Raak
Very Rare ‘Columbus’ pendant Lamp by Hermian Sneyders de Vogel for Raak, Holland (1975).
Hermian Sneyders de Vogel (1941-2012) was trained as a goldsmith and studied both in Holland and Italy. After designing and producing jewelery for a number of years, she turned to industrial design. She joined the Raak team on recommendation of her former professor Frank Ligtelijn. Her best known - and most common - designs for Raak are the ‘Bolide’ and ‘Ying Yang’ sconces, but her ‘Columbus’ pendant remains very rare. This model is obviously named after the story of Columbus’ Egg and has finish which recalls the texture of an egg shell as well.
Dimensions: height 11.42 in. (29 cm), diameter 14.96 in. (38 cm). Condition: Fair, consistent with age and use: some scratches to the surface, one screw replaced.
