Extension Cord Extreme

This is a concept of an extension cord designed by Wilson Song, seen on Yanko Design's blog whith the question: "If a device is plugged into one output, doesn’t that prevent power from reaching the other outputs?" What is your opinion?

I am sure that this is not a matter of opinion but about fact. In the north-american (and british?) system, where the two contacts of the plug are made different, the two poles can not be exchanged. In the illustrated case that shows the continental European plug a short circuit would be inevitable.

Even if this allowed for the standard US three prong grounded outlet (which would render it somewhat less aesthetically pleasing) I worry about the load potentially concentrated on a single cord if you plug in high wattage devices.

Now more than ever we need Nicola Tesla to come back and renew his investigations into transmitting power safely and cheaply through the air.
