At the beginning of the year 2008, we decided to make a surprise to our visitors on the occasion of Design Addict's 10th anniversary. Today, after one year's work, we are delighted to present a new home page and a new section called the Design Radar.
What could we offer you? What would you expect from Design Addict?
Since the launching of DA in 1998, the same question was often asked to us by email: "where can I buy this or that"? Another regular request was to be able to easily add images in our "free ads" section.
While summarizing these comments and questions, we drew the conclusion that we needed a tool that would facilitate the search for your objects of desire. In addition, a survey revealed that many sellers were waiting impatiently for a platform where they would be able to show their design treasures in an elegant and effective context without having to pay exhorbitant fees or commissions on the sales.
We also made a simple observation; these last years, the number of dealers' websites truly exploded. There's almost not one day without us adding a new site in our links directory. This proliferation has some consequences:
- For the buyers (collectors, interior designers…) it becomes impossible to have a global view of the offer because it would probably take more than a whole month to visit the hundreds of dealers' sites + auctions' sites + ebay + the free ads pages etc.
- For the sellers, competition became so abundant that it is difficult to attract new visitors and thus new buyers.
Our answer is the Design Radar, a new platform where you will find, as of today, hundreds of items offered by some of the best specialists in vintage design or limited editions of contemporary design. Of course, now that this service is launched, the selection of items will increase exponentially in the weeks and months to come.
We hope that you will enjoy the Radar and we are waiting for your comments and suggestions to help us build a tool that corresponds to the aspirations of the majority of users.
If you are a seller, don't wait, put your items on the Radar today!
It's easy and not expensive at all.
Patrick & Alix
