First Design and Final Object
AUSTRIA
15-Jun-05> 28-May-06 |
 |
A mix of objects and designs: the exhibition presents silver objects and pieces of jewelry from the first half of the 19th century together with contemporaneous master drawings from the MAK collection. These designs were the result of a reform of the qualification regulations for handworkers, which required that prospective goldsmiths and silversmiths attend a drawing school. The drawings shown here, some of them with the original appraisals given by the board of examiners, give a vibrant impression of the artistic values of the era in which they were created ? as an attempt to achieve form in times of upheaval.

Cerealart at the Perry Rubenstein Gallery
UNITED STATES
28-Jun-05> 12-Aug-05 |
 |
Perry Rubenstein Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition entitled Cerealart: FEED YOUR HEAD. This installation, designed by Harry Allen, will include approximately twenty-five objects developed and produced by Cerealart. This Philadelphia-based company designs, develops, manufactures, and distributes an affordable range of objects originally conceived by internationally acclaimed artists. These artists often employ diverse elements from mass-media imagery, Pop Art and Conceptual Art as a strategy to highlight the specificity and the contradictions of consumer culture. Many of the designs are limited production editions and distributed through museum stores, design stores, art galleries, and specialty retailers. Harry Allen?s innovative design concept ranges in scale, from major retail interiors, such as the Moss store in SoHo, New York, to private interiors and furniture pieces, to commercial packaging for brands such as Aveda and Dom Perignon. His work is in the permanent design collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Denver Art Museum, Colorado.
Artists include: Michael Bevilacqua, Marcel Dzama, Keith Haring, Kirsten Hassenfeld, Yayoi Kusama, DALEK, Allan McCollum, Ryan McGinness, Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Steve Powers (ESPO), Kenny Scharf, Laurie Simmons, and Momoyo Torimitsu

The New York based architect Lebbeus Woods - founder of the Research Institute for Experimental Architecture (RIEA) - concerns himself intensively with architectural theory and experimental architecture. His approach is free from the pressures of specific purpose built projects and rather tends to develop visionary projects which integrate research, philosophy, and art. The subject of his exhibition entitled 'System Wien' which he developed in collaboration with Christoph a. Kumpusch is the urban structure of the city of Vienna which he plans to interfere in with specific architectural interventions.
