Gee whiz...maybe you could have a stronger opinion, huh? The lamp is obviously modified. Sonneman is a class company that does not do knockoffs. They apparently made alterations to the original design, so they would not infringe on any copyrights. The original lamp has been out of production for nearly 30 years. The company, Arteluce, went out of business nearly 30 years ago. As far as the base goes, it looks the same to me. Despite your attack, I'm going for it. I'm not interested in paying $8000.00 for an original that might have problems with leather handles, bolts that might not stay tightened, paint that needs to be relaquered and probably requiring rewriring. Besides, let's say I find an original. How would it be shipped? Floor lamps are beastly to pack up and safely ship across country or internationally. I'm taking a chance on this alteration...it'll be shipped properly and arrive in one piece. It'll be brand new. Also, where I'm going to buy it, there's free shipping and no sales tax.
