That is one of the harder to come by Nelson clocks. $5000 would not be an outrageous auction price. I have only seen this one go thru auction less than 5 times in the last 10 yrs. and have never seen one on Ebay. I just recently bought one online from a New York store. Jumped on it right away. I would judge it even rarer than an Eyeclock, and even more so than the Flock of Butterflies clock or some of the Motion -Notion clocks. I seen one sell once thru Wright auctions that had different hands. They were the same hands that are on the Ball clock, but those are the wrong hands. The hands on this 60 Slat clock are very unique in the fact that they are creased/bent at an angle right down the middle. No other Nelson clock shares this clock's hand design. The big circle on the minute hand dips down into the grove on the face of the clock as it travels around. Ingenious! It is a very sculptural clock, especially when viewed for the side. Evokes Louise Nevelson sculptures for me. One of the bigger clocks too, 25 inches across. Not sure who designed it for George Nelson Associates, but if I had to guess, I would say Irving Harper maybe. Be proud of that one. I only know of one other Nelson clock collector that has this one (and he has 2!).
