Jacobsen Egg Chair : Reproduction or Fritz Hansen
I've been reading with interest the messages about the Barcelona chair and the dilema of real or reproduction. I am having a simialr problem regarding the Jacobsen egg chair. I would love to purchase one but the prices for both new and vintage are, for me, in the realms of fantasy. Just recently on ebay(us) I have seen reproductions for sale at surprisingly low prices. The info that I have been able to obtian suggests that these repros are manufactured in both Italy and Brazil. I think that whiteonwhite in NY may also sell a reproduction. Does anyone have any further info.
Thanks.
John.

I would also like information about Jacobsen Egg chair reproductions. WHERE DID whiteonwhite.com GO? I can't find it any more!!
Never whiteonwhite
I have seen the version of Egg chair at White store in NYC. It is horrible. The upholstery is badly done on the seaming egde of the chair. It is not as smooth as Fritz Hansen version. Quality of leather or fabric are low. The metal base, oh my God, is horrible. It is rough and has a cheap look. It is not tilt or swivel. The leather version is $1600 and fabric one is $1100. They are much lower in price than Fritz Hansen but are too expensive for what they are. You will not get what you pay for. Not a good investment. They are made in Turkey by the way.
