Jan Ekselius, Etcetera chair - any info??
Could anyone help? I'm trying to find out anything about Jan Ekselius (furniture designer). I have a 1970 Etcetera chair (I think is the right name), but am finding it very hard to get any information on the chair or the Ekselius. Not much luck via Google.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Ben.

Look under JOC Carlsson
Both Jan and his father Carl-Erik Ekselius worked for JOC Carlsson...Jan probably still does. Many years ago the company published a book on their remarkable history, written by Eva Ekselius and the Art historian and exceptional design critic Ulf Haord of Segerstam. The titel of the book is: "Var sao god och sitt" My own translation would be: "Please, have a seat" refering to JOC's main production: chairs. Unfortunately for those who do not read and write swedish yet, it is not available in an other language...
Of course teh best information would come from Jan Ekselius himself, I am sure he would answer your questions if you write him. Good luck!

Hi Ben
You might be interested in the fact that Crassevig, the Italian furniture company is planning to produce the Etcetera again. As you know, it was designed by Jan Ekselius in 1971 and produced at JOC Carlsson in Vetlanda(Sweden) until 1979 when Jan's father discontinued the production. If you go to Crassevig's site and click on news you will find some information (not much though, most of it is still "under construction"

You are right Wouter
It is very hard to find anything outside of the already mentioned book. Even on swedish websites there is not much. I guess the best thing to do is to ask Jan himself, his E-mail address is [email protected] Good luck!

Etcetera is in production again
This is an old thread, but I just wanted to tell you that Etcetra is back in production again. Production is back in the Swedish woods of Småland.

www.ekselius.se has more information, currently only in Swedish. An English version of the site will be available in the coming weeks. For more information contact us through e-mail.

Cheers,
Jonas Ekselius (Jan's son)

Info please on my old Ekselius
Hi Jonas i hope you have time to help me out. I am thinking about selling the chair i grew up in, see photo. Or, keep it in storage for a later day. I am kind of attaches to it!
It is damaged by a cat and i am not sure if it will be worth much without the original cover. Can you please give me some info on it? Should i have a new cover made?
Not even sure it is an Ekselius, this model is very hard to find online.
I would really appreciate your input.
Thank you,
Merien. Amsterdam.
