Eames shell chair trade?
I hope this isnt against the rules (Im not selling!) but I'm wondering if any wants to swap some shell chairs? I have 4 lemon yellow chairs and am looking for 2 more to contrast with them.

I'm looking for-
2 parchment/green/blue side shells
Dowels bases

I can offer-
2 Sunshine yellow shells
2 black armchairs (rough shape with potential)
1 Caramel colored armchair (excellent condition)
4-6 silver narrow H bases
2 sets (total of 8) new shockmounts

I just don't want to hassle with ebay and maybe make someone elses set complete!

doesn't seem like a fair trade to me

2 parchment/green/blue side shells (rather rare to rare colorway)

for

2 bright yellow side shells (common colorway and mostly on newer shells)

where are you located?

no need to be rude...
It was just a wishlist and what I have to offer...

I didn't say that I expected it to be 'straight across'

i think the original poster is offering

4-6 h-bases to exchange for

2 parchment/green/blue side shells with Dowels bases

h-bases are all over the bay and CL for $20-25 a pop.

so if you think 2 parchment/green/blue side shells on dowel bases are worth $100 to $150, then i suppose it's a fair trade to you then.

if the original poster meant differently, then he/she should specify the trade more clearly.

i don't think i was being rude

i was merely commenting on what you presented.

just because i made a judgement call regarding the fairness of the trade does not mean that i am being rude.

did i call you name or make any personal attack or innuendo about you? i don't think so.

if you didn't mean as a straight swap, then perhaps you should have stated your proposal clearer? people can only comprehend and react to what you wrote, they can't read your mind.

it did come off as rude.

There is a wish list and then a list of what I have, no mention of 'what for what' specifically.

I assumed that any one who had any of the items and was intrested in what I had would respond and we could work out a swap. I din't think I needed to spell it out exactly, esp with not knowing what combo the other person might have.

This kinda what I had in mind, Does this help you?

I feel 4 silver bases for one dowel is fair, as you pointed out they sell for $20ish on ebay, a dowel base from Modern Conscience is $78.

The bright yellow shells average about $150 each on ebay (I checked ended auctions last night)

The armchair I would value at $250

The shockmounts I value at $35.00

better?

Did you also think that he...
Did you also think that he wanted to trade 8 shockmounts for two shells as well?

It seemed pretty clear to me that the list was inventory of what was available to trade.

it's really up to the individual's interpretation
so there is no right or wrong answer which is exactly my point.

when you have information that is not specific, it leaves room for interpretation.

the issue here is that one should be not deemed rude for merely interpreting the information in a certain way when there are possibilities and room for various interpretation.

for the person who said that it's pretty clear that the OP simply provided an inventory list, that's your interpretation and you should not be deemed the most well mannered person in the world either because your interpretation has no bearing to your character as long as the interpretation sticks to the facts without any personal attack or praise.

all i said was the trade doesn't "SEEM" to be fair based on the information provided and my interpretation. was i being straightforward? absolutely. was i being rude, absolutely not.

all you had to do, op, is to clarify your specific proposal and i would have responded accordingly. but when you stated that i was being rude for merely interpreting your information, i had to dispute that.
