Need help ID'ing this sideboard please...
Hello design addicts, I've often visited this site and always enjoyed the free flow of information shared by the design enthusiasts here. Now I need to ask the forum for help on a specific topic. I have recently purchased a Danish sideboard and would love to find out more about it's provenance. Hopefully someone out there can help. I'm not sure how to post a pic here yet so I've borrowed this...
It is similar to the one below.
When I say similar, it is a smaller version but obviously from the same range. The drawer handle and door pull details are identical as are the over-sized end cheeks, legs and base design, the only difference being that it's shorter - having only one bay of sliding doors.
As you can see this dealer has attributed the piece to H.W. Klein but I can't find any other resources that corroborate that claim, most of Klein's Danish productions appear to be with the Brahmin Mobler company. Of course my first port of call was to (naively) contact the dealer, only to be told "I'm afraid I can't tell you how I know it's Klein".
Hopefully someone out there can be more forthcoming in the interests of increasing awareness of our modern design history. All I've got to go on at this point is the 'Danish Furniture Control' mark. I have collected modernist design for a number of years including pieces by Kurt Østervig, Nils Jonnson, Kofod Larsen, Poul Hundevad and Mr H. W. Klein himself, and thus am more than happy to contribute any knowledge that I have to this forum - cause I've definitely drawn a blank on this one!
ANY help greatly appreciated and hopefully reciprocated.
