Tighten Tizio Lamp Arms
I just picked up a Tizio lamp at a great price but in some positions, the top set of arms won't stay in position. It appears that the pieces are riveted together. Is there a way I can adjust the tension between the arms, thus making the arms stay in proper position?

No adjustments possible.
I have had the same problem with one of my Tizio lamps, after seeing my sweet housekeeper lift it off of the table by its cross-members( to clean underneath). It still illuminates properly, but refuses to remain in desired position. These are delicate, but elegant lamps.
ps always pick the lamp up by lifting it up from the bottom cylinder.

Short answer... no.
Check first if the small weight in the lamp head is missing. These lamps are intended to be naturally stable because they are weighted equally across each point of articulation. If the lamp won't stay put, something has changed in that balance. Fix the weight imbalance. The pivot point isn't the problem.
The pivot points between the arms are actually snap fittings. In theory, you could open these and add something that would create more friction. However, the power to the lamp runs through these points, and any foreign substance would add resistance to that electrical path - not a good solution. These lamps (especially the older ones) already have a pretty compromised electrical path. Don't make it worse.
