Hello,

Has any of you experienced buying stuff from jmcfurniture.co.uk ? Are they reliable & reactive ?

We've purchased from them and they were great..
We purchased a pair of Barcelona chairs from them and had them the same day! The price was fantastic too only £329 each.

JMC Furniture is unreliable company
We ordered two chairs from them on 4th April, 2006 and paid their invoice on 07/04/2006. One chair came on 17th April and it was with damages. They promised to send spareparts with the second parcel. Lst e-mail from them was on 13th May, 2006 with promise to send everything. Since that time we haven't got any information, all our e-mails/telephone calls are ignored.

I ordered a barcelona chair from them in January, the guy called the next day to confirm my card details, with no advise about when the chair will be delivered, I waited without any word from them till April when I decided to cancel the order, I am still to this minute trying to get my money back, they ignored all emails and telephone calls

JMC Furniture Delivered Our Chairs In 10 Days
I ordered a PK22 lounge chair and it was delivered within 10 days to us in Monaco - It is ok for the price ok value and good quality.

I've ordered an Eames La...
I've ordered an Eames La Chaise in November 2005. Untill this day, July 8th 2006, I never saw my chair.
I've sent them several e-mails and always got a quick reply with a plausible explication.
I've tried to get my money back, but without result.
I've reported them to the European Consumer Centre. They have a branch in each European country. You can easily find them om the internet.
I have high hopes they will at least help me to recuperate my money.
I suggest you all do the same.

I ordered a bubble chair...
I ordered a bubble chair reproduction off JMC in january was told delivery would be 6 weeks,after 7 weeks still no chair .I contacted JMC by the phone and was then told 'another 7 weeks'.In the end it was over 19 weeks before i cancelled my order.

After 6 months they have not delivered my chair, so I asked for a refund two months ago , but I haven't got my money back yet and I think the only way to get my money will be in court.

did anyone get their goos from JMC?
I'm having similar probs with wating for goods. Most Italian manufacturing shut down in Aug so i'm told by a friend.
I guess the longer they hold onto everone's deposit,thier bank interest acrews.............Are the people who paid (by not using their credit card) the one's who couldn't get back their deposit?

I am going to send off to "Watchdog" a series of valid complaints against this co. it's obviously upset customers doing some scam if the posts I've read are bonia fide. Ordered Le Corbusier sofa 6 months ago, had to pay by check (really clever) which was immediately cashed. No sofa, cancelled order after 7 weeks, now still waiting for my money back...

JMC - does anyone have the company's address?
I have a similar story - I bought a chair in December and am still waiting, they keep answering my e-mails and tell me they are having problems w/ the shippers - I need to file a claim with the Better Business Bureau here in the U.S. - Can anyone give me the address? Search engines here in the U.S. are not doing the trick.

I had the same problem with my JMC order, they kept telling me they were waiting for it to be delivered, eventually i cancelled but it took months to get my money back. Persistence paid off after A LOT of calls and emails!

Just looked at the link..an Arco for £249.00 !!!.ha ha , I dont suppose that anyone will get an Arco for this price, people must know there is something dodgy.I read all the print but cant find any "repro" or "in the manner of" anywhere, maybe i missed it?.

Modern Classics Direct are JMC
Modern Classics Online are NOT! Just to clarify that, dont want the two getting confused with each other!
I run Modern Classics Online (might have to change the name!), & whilst the furniture business can be a challenge the way these people appear to work is just completely unethical.
Their card merchant provider (either Lloyds Cardnet, HSBC, Barclays or Natwest Streamline) would shut them down in a nano second if they knew what was happening.
It gives everyone in this business a bad name & the sooner they & the other two companies I know of that do this are gone the better for everyone.

Good for you to put us right on that issue, nipping it in the bud and all that. So, does that mean the "Arco" thats advertised on your website is a genuine "Flos Arco" for £249 ???, i cant see any reference to the contrary anywhere, although my eyesight isnt as good as it used to be i admit!.

If you check out the whois results (http://www.whois-search.com/whois/modernclassicsdirect.co.uk) you'll see that the registrant is John Christopher - the same guy to signed my "apology" from JMC (http://www.jmcfurniture.net/apology.html) but still hasn't given me a refund.

Yes, but the name Modern Classics Direct..
return a clean Google search! Therefore the unsuspecting customer would really not have any idea these guys are crooks. So we know they are one & the same, but if you were checking them out you would have no idea! How appalling.
As for the Arco lamp, of course its not the original! We sell a version of it too, for £299, & very nice it is too - but at that price it is NOT the real McCoy.
And I think I might be able to get a trading address for them if anyone is interested.

Its MY website you are asking about. No its absolutely not the original. I usually put 'Our version of this...' to make it clear, & in the general product info theres reference to reproductions too. But that website really needs updating, my main website - Go Modern - is the one I mainly use, & I know there are still some bits to tidy up on MCO, might do that tonight in fact.

And it definitely says 'Our version' & the first page says 'Furniture inspired by' , plus ours is £299 - so I think you are getting the two mixed up, exactly what I didnt want.
Lots of hyphens in MCO, so similar name but very different URLs.

If not received by then I have advised him that I and a few of my mates will be calling around ....

JMC are cowboys...
I bought a chair from them in Feb 06 and it broke. Asked for a refund, they agreed, sent the chair back as requested and guess what? Yep, I'm still waiting 1 year and 3 months later! I'd be interested in going to their offices if anyone knows where their real trading office is. It definitely would be worth it just to see the faces of these crooks.

JMC - non delivery
Another warning and bad story:
I bought a Barcelona set and a PK20.
The Barcelona set arrived fine, nice quality.
The PK20 never did.
I moved from the U.S. to Denmark, JMC promised to deliver PK20 to me in DK but they never did and stopped answering emails and calls. By the way, when they answer emails it is without previous correspondance attached so ensure you keep all emails you have send as well as received.

Luckily i paid w. AMEX and AMEX has now refunded me the money.

Suckered from an Eames Chair
It appears I should have done my research a bit more thoroughly before placing an order with Modern Classics Direct!
I purchased an Eames chair (599) online at the beginning of September, and it's now become very obvious that they won't ever deliver the chair I ordered (I've been offered an alternative colour.) They fob me off when I call, and won't answer my emails.
Despairing, I've contacted my credit card company to see what I can do...

How to fix their wagon
I take it that JMC is a British website. If that's true, you have a couple of methods of getting even with their sorry buns:

1. Contact the local newspapers. They love to ingestigate and report on local or regional internet fraud.

2. Contact the TV stations. They also love simular investigations.

3. Contact Scotland Yard and file a complaint.

I had a similar problem here in the US and I contacted the police department in the town of their origin. They investigated and I got my money back.

I've also purchased a Leather Lobby Chair from Modern Classics Direct in September for £799 and have been fobbed off with delivery dates and false promises. By the looks of it they have no intention of sending the chair or offering me a re-fund. Its December and I was told the delivery would be in the first week in October. They don't reply to any correspondence now :(

I'd recommend that you DO NOT deal with them. I'd suggest everybody reports them to the trading standards and get them struck off from trading any further.

Barcelona chairs, tulip and other to Portugal - JMC fraud
Hi!
After some research about sites suplying for Portugal I bought from Modern Classics Direct 2 Barcelona chairs, 1 Tulip chair, 1 Eileen Grey table and a Tolomeo Desk Lamp, and paid 1120,05 Pounds by Visa at 05-12-2007. John Christopher from Modern Classics Direct (JMC)always informed me by mail that everything was on stock and ready to deliver. After I made the order I asked for a confirmation about the date of delivery and had a confirmation it would be earlier next week, meaning the 10-12-2007.
At the 16-12-2007 I started to ask for a confirmation of the goods dispatch, and after some phone calls (all going directly to the voice mail) and emails all without any reply I started to think I was victim of a fraud.
So, I decided to check on that... just created a new email as a Spanish person and asked for prices and stock for Le Corbusier chaise longue and of course John Christopher replied.
I identified myself as the person who paid and had no replies and John Christopher replied claiming I was making 'outrageous accusasions' and asking for my order number.
I replied with my order number but also with this site on copy, saying that I would apologuise if the proof of delivery was send imediatly. Also I would not porsuite with a complaint in Visa, my bank and whatever available entities exists to complaint about fraudulent companies and business if I had that proof of delivery.

Of course I had no more replies...

I will wait for a refund untill wednesday - 26-12-2007 (day that my bank will open after the Xmas bank holidays).

John Christopher is probably reading this blog now... So please facilitate the resolution and reply to me with a refund of what I paid so we can avoid legal problems for you. Also my lawyer is already on the run.

A nice Xmas for all (mine would be good if I the material I paid for and in execlent conditions).

John Christopher is not reading this blog!!!!! JMC furniture is well know fraud and needs to be shut down and needs to spend time in Prison for fraud, I feel sorry for all of you folks that have been ripped by him.
i can not believe that visa master card or Amex puts up with his kind of fraud and has not shut him down
