Lots of other complaints about these people when you google 'em. I'd strongly reccomend complaining (with a link to this and other threads) to any newspapers, websites etc who carry their advertising - that really hurts shysters like these.

I feel sorry for the innocent people that got caught in their greedy sting to rip people off,

Recommended designer webshops?
I was just seconds away from being cheated by this scumbags, having placed an order with modernclassicsdirect. In the last instance, just before the transaction went through, I managed to stop the moneytransfer by some helpful staff at PayPal. Phuuuu.....
So, thx a lot for your warnings guys!
My next question is if anyone can recommend a webshop where you actually get what you order. Good quality reproduction of design furniture? I've had a look at a shop advertising and selling via e-bay; modern-furniture-direct. They've got very good feedback score, but seems to be charging heavy shipping cost. Any other webshops you guys can recommend?

I always research a company before i buy, but that was learned the hard way
years ago...still infuriating.
I do think if the title is simplified, it would reach more potential buyers
getting ripped off.

PLEASE LET ME HELP DESTROY THIS BUNCH OF CROOKS
Having ordered my Chair in October 07 I still have nothing.
After emails galore and the lies about delivery dates, I have now been told the chair will be finished in July and here by the end of August. Do I believe this? I think not.
I cannot believe for the first time ever we stupidly bought the furniture on switch not credit card. I think I have lost my money but if I can help anyone get these guys locked up I will happily stand up and be counted.

As I am sure you are aware one of these numbers is to an answerphone and the other two - 9 times out of 10 go to an overflow call centre.
Perhaps we should just start to barrage the call centre with calls and they may stop using JMC - John Muppet Christopher.

Now they target ebay!!
I recently bought some chairs via ebay and guess what, they havent arrived!
With a little research I discover the seller actually works for Cohen & Christopher Limited so I'm not expecting to get any chairs any time soon.
Thankfully I'm covered by both Paypal and my Credit Card to I shouldn't have any trouble getting my money back but still, I now need a new supplier!
FYI the guy I bought from goes under modernfurnitureimporter on ebay, and is called Brian English, phone number 0207 9619000.
Please feel free to start calling him, although it's no good as no one answers!

money back with visa - URGENT !!
Hi there,
we did order some chair, stupidly without checking on the net before, and we don't expect anything to get shipped. Until we asked for a refund, there were immediate replies, which then suddenly stopped.
Now,we are wondering how to get a refund from Visa. What did you guys do to convince the credit card company that the money was illegally withdrawn by JMC ? Strictly speaking, JMC should have some kind of order confirmation as all of the genuine web shops have as well. Can't imagine that a simple complain will do the job.

if you used your VISA card and there's a problem, you call the bank which issued the card.
I don't know how it is in whatever country you're in)....I assume United Kingdom?
Wouldn't you simply file a claim at the bank that issued the VISA card?
