Chair ID
Hi everybody,
I recently bought a pair of chairs on a local flee market (5$ a chair), but cannot indentify the designer of it. Chairs are signed "Gemla - Sweden", made of lacquered wood. Does anyone have an idea? It would help me a lot! Thanks!

Gemla is still around. They...
Gemla is still around. They started out as Sweden's first toy manufacturer in the 1860s, expanded to wooden furniture in the 1880s and went on to focus on contract work for theaters, cinemas, restaurants, and offices a few decades later, Many of these models became popular in private homes as well. Most of their furniture features bent wood in various forms. They have several well known Swedish and foreign designers in their catalogue. You will find some of their current ("aktuella") and past ("tidigare") designers listed on the linked page. Even though their chairs can be found almost everywhere, Gemla does not seem to be a very well known brand among the public in Sweden. They also made some really ugly stuff. But some pieces are highly valued by collectors, and Early Gemla chairs reach astronomical prices on auctions. I don't know who designed that particular chair, or if it is still in production. I doubt it. Nice find.

Thanks for your answers!...
Thanks for your answers! Unfortunately, I don't find any relevant information about this chair on Gemla website. I send them an e-mail, we never know... The only thing I know is that these chairs were produced in the late 50's.

Let's try again! ;)
Maybe this time, a newcomer will indentify this chair! Well, I hope so! Thanks!
