What about the wives?
I have been noticing something lately that I never really have before. In my readings, both past and presence, there is usually a mention of a famous designers wife doing some designing of her own. I found this interesting and began wondering how hard it would be to track down some of these items. Well it turns out VERY! The examples that come to mind are Mrs.: Kagan (sculpture), Bertoia (jewelry), Platner (jewelry), obviously Ray. All make very cool stuff from what I have found. Is there a defintiive book on this topic or somewhere I can go to see more examples? Please share other examples that you know of that fit the bill. Interested to see what comes out of the topic.

Mrs. Kagan? Vladimir's wife?
If that's the one, then you are talking about Erica Wilson, who designs needlepoint, crewel and embroidered pieces which are sold through her business as kits. She's been around for a long time. I used to walk by her shop on Lexington Ave., I think, in NYC back in the 70s. It was on the second floor and had a lot of stuff in the window. I always wanted to go in it but never did.

A lot of her stuff was very traditional but she did some kinda nice modern stuff that goes really well with Danish Modern style.

I got this gigantic crewel piece at an auction for 2 bucks. It's an Erica Wilson design from the 60s. I think someone probably enlarged the original pattern to make this, but maybe it was offered in this size. It's all wool embroidery on wool fabric and is over five feet tall.
