Hans Wegner prototype
My aunt bought a Hans Wegner chair in the 1950's directly from the man himself. It looks like a big satellite dish and is the most comfortable chair in America. Orange-brown, looks like a jack-o'lantern actually. It's been kicking around our family now for the past 25 years since she died. The chair itself is a prototype, only 6 were made. I have a picture but no web link. I can email the photo to anyone.
I'd like to restore it as best I can (it's already been re-covered twice) using original materials. Does anyone have an idea where I might find these, or even where to start?
Lounge chair proto manuf. by Johannes Hansen..
...late 40's, never mass produced...almost similar to Circle chair sans upholstery...originally orange fabric w/ black leather...$3,000-4,000±..
i own it
I found this photo a few years ago online; it's the same chair. About 20 years ago my dad had it reupholstered in denim (it's true). Not a peacock chair. I'd love to restore it. thanks
I see....
So you don't own the exact chair that is pictured.
A reputable upholsterer (perhaps one that specializes in modern) maybe be able to do the job based on the photo. I wonder what type of foam / padding was used for the arms and the headrest...
