Finn Juhl #136 Chair?
I have the same chair shown in the linked photo below. It looks very much like a Finn Juhl Model 136... except the back and seat are connected to each other, as shown, and there is no horizontal support at the lower back.
Marked with a France & Son plaque. All the other design elements are dead on. Same little backward twist to the rear leag/arm. Same beautiful feathering of the arm.
Any proof that more than one #136 exists? Or is this another model... if so which one?

more likely. . .that one chair is a knock-off -- excuse me, I mean "inspired by" -- the other ?

A shame.
The frame does look identical.
Someone, an owner?, decided to trash the original seat and back?
And add their own flair?
Not sure but seems so.
Or it could just be a different design with a bad re-upholstery job.
An upholsterer did that to me once. Thought he would make
some changes...i had been very clear.
I stopped in to see how things were going...yikes.
I paid him for the work up to that point, took the chair
and ran.

Actually, after translating...
Actually, after translating a Japanese site that pictures one example of the 'inspired' design, it turns out that the seat design was changed at one point because of support/frame weakness problems with the original design. I cannot tell which is the original, though.
The fact that the frame is identical abd has all the proper markings inclines me to believe it's not a knock-off. There are other examples of Finn Juhl models with slightly different designs.
I did forget to add that mine has the original upholstery, black leather. I would have leaned toward a bad upholstery job without that.

Ah... nothing is ever easy,...
Ah... nothing is ever easy, is it? The referenced comments about the factory-owned designs add confusion.
I am meeting with an appraiser soon from one of he big modern furniture auction houses. Hope to have an update in a few days.

Any new thoughts?
Wondering if anyone has thoughts about this. Everything looks like Juhl to me. I did not get a chance to meet with the appraiser, and am now getting back to figuring out what this is.

From what I have seen this chair was made in different versions. More than one high end reseller has sold these as a 136 chair by Finn. Reference points from Denmark show one version only; but that may not be the only source to note. The chair comes with a second top cushion normally lost or worn thus leaving the bottom one. The chair will have two metal plate markings to the back side with two side scribes left and right to the teak frame in gold tone. I've seen these sold in pairs with a ottoman and Finn Juhl. Not inspired by.

Ahh you are all
so close but not there.
What you have there is a model 141 which is missing it's loose seat cushion.
Frame is identical to 136 BUT does not have the floating back rest.
