Mid century artist known or unknown ...
let the journey begin......

How many of you have arts past unknown or modestly succesful artist paintings on your wall? Who were these people who lived in the abstract, painting vivid displays of color or the popular aves (birds) in flight or perched on the shore. I picked up some interesting ones by the artist Mccaine to whom only one Palm Springs article is attributed. I have no idea what will become of them: possible future: Hanging in a mid century cabin or a beach house. Post yours, here are mine.............

When is this going to happen to me ( great documentary to brighten the spirit): Who the #$% Is jackson Pollock-After semi-truck driver Teri Horton bought a large splatter painting for her friend for $5, she was forced to sell it in her own garage sale when her friend said she had no place for it. Eventually someone commented on the painting stating it might be an original Jackson Pollock. This documentary follows Teri, her son, and a forensics specialist as they attempt to prove to the world, or more specifically the art community, her painting is a true Jackson Pollock

Another thread altogether but have you ever inquired about a furniture piece and you get "whats it worth to you." what is that about......Another day for discussion.

Reminds me of Lee Reynolds' work
which was considered borderline schlock(by serious art critics),but of an exceedingly high quality.Usually used large canvases,upwards of 40" suqare,and as large as 60".
I like that sort of art myself,and have a number of similar pieces.Will try to post.

I am barely beginning to remodel this old ranch house, so sometime to go.

Pucci. Pucci who?
I love this painting I bought second-hand. It's oil, appears to be an Italian scene, and the artist has a fine signature. That's all I know.

Not to be confused with Gucci
Or a latin phrase which denotes something that smells bad. What a minute I think that I owned some sneakers by that artist/designer in the late 80's that had imitation snake skin. However, I am found of the color palette that is demonstrated. Nice example....

We probably will not be see any of our paintings in the MoCA or the Norton Simon museum for that matter, but, there have aesthetic value to us and that is all that matters for those concerned.

Most painters

I know would consider these three examples to be successful illustration, at best -- neither better nor worse than the vast amount of commercial work of which they are representative. (Is that eagle staring at us, defying the critic to call a spade a spade ?) At least these are professional, rather than amateur, productions !

But it's important to have what pleases you ! Enjoy. . .
