This project is a result of an exploration and abstraction of upholstered furniture. StopIt's minimal stainless steel frame and rectangular wood 'cushion' iconographically expresses traditional forms of upholstered furniture. The repetition of rubber stoppers on the cushion replaces the decorative function of fabrics. Different colors and patterns can be used to customize the cushions.
Using scraps from fashion house Boudicca's Autumn/Winter 2006 Collection (An Invisible City) the rug is created to be the ultimate fashion design souvenir. Using the scraps the rug becomes a unique representation of both the fashion designers and the particular collection it is taken from. The focus of the end design motif goes back to Boudicca the Celtic Queen/Warrior/Priestess who led a famous rebellion against Roman occupation in 1st century AD and Boudicca as the Archetype of the femme fatale.
