He studied at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (nowadays: Tokyo University of the Arts) and upon graduation, he started working at architect Junzo Sakakura's office. In 1955, he designed furniture for International House of Japan with Katsuo Matsumura and Tadanomi Mizunoe. Daisaku Choh took part in the 12th Triennale di Milano with Persimmon Chair and became the first Japanese to win the Gold Medal. He established his own architect office in 1972 and has focused on designing buildings and redesigns of his furniture. Choh is one of the heavyweights of the Japanese design field.
