Born in Paris and adoptive Brazilian, Michel Arnoult is recognized as one of the fathers of both Ready-To-Assemble furniture (RTA) and flat packaging. He always ardently defended the democratization of design at the expense of any creative vanity.
From 1952 he starts designing simple furniture and focuses its researches on the RTA furniture concept. He particularly takes an interest in production optimization using standard parts, common to various furniture, and volumes optimization using flat-packs. This approach is regarded as the premises of the current Cash & Carry. He also focuses on a concept he calls the "firm comfort": a well-studied design combined with a very great quality of manufacturing bring comfort to furniture only made of wood.

The Peg-Lev armchair, literally "I take and I carry", is one of the premises of the current Cash & Carry. Michel Arnoult who always ardently defended the democratization of design at the expense of any creative vanity focused on flat-pack making possible the customers to carry easily their furniture, revolutionary approach for that time.
The stylishness underlined by both simple and modern lines, the use of noble materials, the great care paid to the manufacturing and finishing processes, bring this iconic and very comfortable creation a timeless touch.

Created in 2003, the Pelicano is the last creation of the French designer Michel Arnoult, one of the fathers of the Ready-To-Assemble furniture (RTA) and the flat packaging in the Fifties. This piece is surely one of the best illustrations of his humanistic vision of design and its contributions to modern world.
The elegance underlined by both simple and modern lines, the quality of materials, the great care paid to the manufacturing and finishing processes, inspire comfort and beauty to this iconic piece of furniture available in two versions : armchair and rocking chair.
The ingenious cover fixing system, enabling the body suspension makes the seating position very comfortable. Combined with the smoothly swing of the rocker you almost feel like in a hammock.
At 81 years old Michel Arnoult received for his Pelicano armchair the Price of the Museo da Casa Brasileira, showing the new generation of designers that his concept is still alive and never ceased to be topical in our global and competitive world.
