Artist and designer, Mari has created a lot of games, toys, graphics, office and table accessories and furniture. He made researches in psychology and the perception of space, color and volume. He collaborated intensively with Danese since the fifties but also designed ceramics for Gabbianelli and textiles and furniture for Driade. Mari was awarded two Compasso d?Oro, one in 1967 for his research on design and one in 1979 for his ?Delfina? chair for Driade.

On the occasion of the city of Turin’s nomination as World Design Capital 2008, GAM will dedicate an extensive anthological exhibition to the works of Enzo Mari, eminent Italian designer with an intense artistic career since the 1950s, when he stood out as a prominent figure of Programmed and Kinetic Art. In 1963, Mari coordinated the Italian movement called Nuova Tendenza, and in 1965 he organised its participation in the Zagreb Biennial Exhibition. In parallel with his artistic career he worked as a designer, engaged at first in individual formal investigation and subsequently in collaboration projects with various enterprises involved in the fields of graphic design, manufacturing and exhibition design.
