Every vase eventually breaks. The Do Break cracks but does not shatter when it hits the floor. Not only can the vase still be used but it also gains in beauty as the cracks multiply to form a unique pattern. From now on, any lover's quarrel is an improvement.

The shape of this lamp is directly derived from the technical elements inside. Usually industrial products tend to hide the inside, showing things tends to enrich the experience of objects. Apple understood this very well when introducing the iMac in 1998. This lamp is transparency highlighted.

John Maatman, Annekatrien van Meegen and Frank Tjepkema were commissioned to create an artwork for a cooking school in The Hague. After doing some research, they concluded that it would be nice if the students would have influence on the one thing they hate most about school: the school bell. Every trimester all the students are gathered together to yell something energising, the sound is recorded and afterwards diffused through the conic shaped horns, every time the bell goes. If a student has a good idea for the sound of the school bell he can propose to change it, for example he could play a saxophone tune... When the school was inaugurated by the minister of education he got the honour to speak in the school bell, he was the ‘star of the moment’. To add some spice to the project the sound is also to be heard in the toilets of the school. The three light rings symbolise the logo and the identity of the school.
