Master of Arts in Ceramic and Glass, UIAH Finland and bachelor of Design in Industrial Design, NCAD Rep. of Ireland. From 1997 to 98, Keaney worked with Finnish furniture designer Ilkka Suppanen producing prototypes and assisting with design work. In 1998, he opens Studio Brian Keaney Helsinki, designing and producing ceramic and glass tableware as well as freelance design work.
In 1999, he founded Tonfisk Design with his partner Tony Alfström.
