Colombo initially trained as a painter and joined the Nuclear Painting movement before studying architecture at the Milan Politecnico. In 1962, he opened his own design office and led progressive Italian design with a series of products in new materials, mostly in plastics. He received many awards, among them two Compasso d'Oro in 1967 and 1970. His design innovations included one of the first one-piece injection-molded plastic chairs and a complete kitchen on wheels. Colombo worked for Bayer, Bernini, Kartell, Stilnovo, O-Luce, Comfort, Italora...

Transformable system made of two padded cushions covered with elastic fabric. They can be used individually or, when combined in different positions, they can become various kinds of seats and armchairs for moments of conversation or relaxation. The cushions are held together by two leather belts with hooks. Originally produced by Sormani. Re-issued by B-LINE in 2004.

Super light armchair with a bent multilayer wood structure and a leather covered cushion. Seat, back and arms are a single sheet of multilayer wood, bent, curved, cut and supported by two bridges: there is no junction element between them. All these features make "Superleggera" unique of its kind and particularly comfortable. Also named "Supercomfort" or "Lem" this armchair was originally produced by Comfort and Bieffe. Re-issued by B-LINE in 2004.
