While in university pursuing a degree in chemistry, became interested in ceramics. Finished with a B.A. in Chemistry and Art in 1991, with the intent of being a ceramic artist. Obtained M.F.A. from Penn State University, 1996. Taught clay & glaze formulation in the ceramics department at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1996-2003.
Unable to satisfy the demand for some designs from home studio, had the most popular design (coffee cup) mass produced in 2007. Continues to teach and maintain a ceramics studio.
