Bente Rübner is the designer of Rübner tables. Originally educated as a weaver, Bente Rübner used her creativity as such for many years. When the old roof of her house was replaced, the beautiful slate tiles were left in the back yard. Soon the slate stirred her imagination and a new design of exclusive tables made of old slate tiles cut into squares and embedded in a beautiful minimalistic design of a glass grind steel frame was born. Since then more innovative table designs have followed. First came the reintroduction of the material linoleum in a new minimalistic and elegant look, and lately a new line of CompactLaminate tables called TURN180 (referring to the tabletop, that can be turned upside down) has been introduced successfully to the market. As a designer Bente Rübner is inspired by interesting and alternative materials she has an unusual talent for spotting how to let the material interact with her distinct designs to form a unique whole.

'Slate' is a range of coffee and dining tables with a desktop of old slate roof tiles cut into squares and a frame of powder coated steel or glass grind steel. The tables are known for the colourful impression found in the old roofing material used, and the unusual fine finish in both the powder coated and glass grind steel frame.

CompactLaminate
A unique feature of 'Turn180' is that its tabletop can be turned, swiftly and effortlessly, to vary the table's colour and style to suit your needs and wishes.
The tabletop is made of CompactLaminat. The word "laminate" comes from the Latin "lamina", which means thin plate. The material used in CompactLaminat is paper. Each tabletop consists of 160 sheets of very thin Kraft paper, which is glued together and bonded under high pressure, using resin, another natural product. To secure optimal wear resistance and easy maintenance the outer layers of paper are impregnated with melamine, which has the added bonus of giving the tabletop its unique sheen and strength.
