Janne Kyttänen started his studies in industrial design at the Escola de Disseny (Elisave) in Barcelona in 1996. He then moved to the Netherlands and graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 2000.

He introduced a line of Augmented Reality and Rapid Manufactured based products as his graduate thesis. This project laid the foundation for FOC, a company called Freedom of Creation (FOC) that he founded in 2000.
