The Aluminum Group was initially conceived by Charles Eames and Alexander Girard as a high quality solution to outdoor furniture. By the time of production however, Herman Miller marketed the group for use in outdoor, indoor domestic, and office settings. Its revolutionary anatomical design and clean fluid profile spoke of understated elegance, and has since become a modernist classic.
This example features its original chocolate brown naugahide upholstery and black detachable armrests. The pedestal base features blade-shaped legs with flattened tips, denoting early series production.
Signed with impressed factory marks.
