I do a little furniture restoration on largely a hobby basis having taught myself french polishing a few years ago.
I recently purchased a set of 4 oak dining chairs. While they are danish in style I am not sure they are of danish design and manufacture. Any help in identification would be most welcome.
I purchased a year ago a huge coffee table needing restoration.
I was fortunate enough to recently purchase a set of 8 teak chairs as shown in the attached photos.
Just back from a visit to the Heal's archive at the V&A.
thanks Spanky......its definitely worth a go......will do just as you suggest and hope for a favourable outcome
Nice table, colour matching looks good as does the finish mgee76
stripped with meths and 0000 wire wool.
so in terms of redial action do you think I should bleach and then stain?
See attached photo and in particular the top right hand corner.....this has turned black.
thanks Leif. I guess for future that means when removing old polish just keep to meths and rags.
although I have also used commercial stripper and then neutralised with white spirit and also a random orbital sander
Generally strip using meths and 0000 grade wire wool....then use natural stain 50/50 linseed and turps
